Recipe Disaster

“No! No! No!” Mama screamed at the orderly who was trying to remove her from the car. He finally scooped her up, at which she kicked and flailed so much he lost his footing and was just able to plop her into the wheelchair before he hit the asphalt.
“You don’t know what you’re doing!” Mama continued to scream. “They’ll come after me. They’ll come after all of us. You don’t break the rules of The Cooking School!”
Anna had always tried to play by the rules, but dealing with her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease caused her to start breaking them, and now that she’d started, events had kept her on a path headed to disaster.
She thought moving from Louisiana to Indiana would give her the distance she needed from her troubled family. Then, this disease forced her to move back to The Bayou State and become Mama’s caregiver. Anna never imagined what that would entail – arson, kidnapping, murder, and all the while clinging hopefully to faith in God who had never let her down. Surely, He had a plan for this too.
